If you have made a decision that you are going to take the dive and enter the chaotic, fun, rewarding world of filmmaking, it is important to get rid of as much obstacle to your goal as possible.

The most common form of resistance is financial obligation. The film industry does not pay well initially; in fact, your first few jobs may be for free. That is why if you have financial obligations, you are already doomed from the start. It was 3 years after I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in film that I took my initial job. It is not simple to work on a boring job just to eliminate my debts, but I need to take care of this problem first before I can follow my dream. If the reason why you are pursuing in a career in the film industry is because you love making films rather than to earn money, then you now have a power over your competitors.

Like or not, those who work in the film industry will at some point become slaves to their respective jobs like everybody else. These people find themselves trapped in a certain circumstance where they have no choice but to take jobs in order to make ends meet. People who are able to pick and choose their projects have negotiating leverage to not only get better work, but to get work that will further their careers. Just before you end up trapped with no choice, you may want to spend enough time to nourish this kind of freedom first. Get rid of your financial obligations by paying it off and then look for a way to generate a passive income for oneself. If you are the kind of person who is into artistry you may find this advice boring, but you need to understand that you may need to go through this way in order to gain the freedom that you need to pursue your dreams.

The reason why I fell in love with the film industry is the truth that it is more or less like a small sized, hyperactive economy. Because film experts are self-sufficient contractors and film projects only last three months to a year at a time, this industry is in a continuous state of flux. A movie is an opportunity to earn and this can pass at the blink of an eye. Success in the film industry can happen almost overnight compared to the overall economy. However, it is not sufficient to possess creativity alone. Entrepreneural skill must come together. In other words, you need to have sufficient knowledge and possess the required business skills in order to be able to get your concepts in motion. Most entrepreneurs are capable of balancing creativity and logic in their heads. Most people that are artistic are great at coming up with concepts, but the fall short in terms of logical skills.
